Documentary Wedding Photographer Brighton | James and Clare’s Winter Wedding
On a stunningly crisp, sunny day between Christmas and New Year, I had the pleasure of photographing James and Clare’s wedding at Brighton Town Hall. The couple opted for a small, intimate celebration with just nine guests. I always feel incredibly honoured when couples invite me to be part of their special day, and with a wedding this intimate, it truly feels like being part of the family. 😊
While James got ready at their home in Hove, Clare had her hair and makeup done in her room at Hotel Du Vin - a gorgeous hotel just a short distance from the Town Hall. When I arrived, Clare was still finishing her makeup, so I had a lovely chat with her parents before capturing some portraits of them together. Once the flowers arrived, it was time to head to the Town Hall -luckily, just a five-minute walk away!
I absolutely love photographing weddings at Brighton Town Hall. It’s such a beautiful venue, featuring a stunning staircase and plenty of natural light - perfect for capturing those romantic couple shots after the ceremony. James and Clare exchanged vows in the Regency Room, which was beautifully decorated for the season, complete with a real Christmas tree, where their rings were safely kept!
After the ceremony, and a few portraits inside the Town Hall, the guests headed to James and Clare’s favourite pub in Brighton - The Walrus. Meanwhile, I took the couple to the Lanes and the beach for some candid, documentary-style portraits. The light at Brighton Beach was absolutely breathtaking, and the sea was the calmest I had ever seen - flat as a pancake!
I couldn’t be more thrilled with how their wedding photos turned out. Below are some of my favourite shots. Are you getting married in Brighton this year and looking for a photographer to capture your special day in a natural, storytelling style? I’d love to hear from you!
