Lewes Maternity Photography | A weekend at The Grain Store
Today on the blog, I’m sharing a beautiful maternity photo session I recently captured in Lewes. Sara reached out to arrange this shoot for her best friend, as she had planned a lovely baby shower weekend with her five closest friends and wanted to surprise her with a maternity shoot to conclude the celebrations - how thoughtful is that?
The group traveled from London to Sussex and spent two nights at The Grain Store, a stunning luxury holiday home in Lewes, nestled against the stunning backdrop of the South Downs.
The views are simply breathtaking. The location is a photographer’s paradise, featuring large windows that flood the space with natural light, a beautiful kitchen, and three spacious bedrooms. No wonder this holiday home is a popular filming and photoshoot location!
Our session began in one of the bright, spacious downstairs bedrooms, beautifully decorated in pastel colours and filled with natural materials, which provided a lovely warm backdrop for Laura's maternity portraits. I loved how at ease and confident she appeared in front of the camera – she truly was a natural!
We proceeded to the upper floor to take advantage of the beautiful settings this holiday home provides. The garden was our final location for the shoot; despite the overcast skies, we were fortunate to avoid any rain.
I am thrilled with the final images and feel honoured to have had the chance to photograph Laura in such a gorgeous setting. I would love to do more shoots in The Grain Store.
If you are thinking of documenting your pregnancy journey with a maternity photoshoot in Lewes then I would love to hear from you. There are so many more gorgeous locations in and around Lewes we can use for your photo session.
I love exploring Lewes when I am out and about either for a maternity shoot or one of my very popular outdoor family photo sessions. Here are my top three favourite spots in Lewes:
The South Downs: The hills and views are stunning, especially at golden hour. It's peaceful and magical for creating gorgeous portraits.
Lewes Castle: This historic site adds a timeless element to your photos. The stone walls and greenery blend strength with softness.
Grange Gardens: A stunning place with beautiful lawns and colourful flowers. It's intimate and I often find it very quiet, which is ideal if you’re looking for a bit more privacy when we’re photographing outdoors in public places.
