As I write this, on a grey, rainy day in September, I'm feeling a bit sad at the thought that Summer has ended and we're heading towards those darker, colder days... I have had so much work over the last few months though, for which I am very grateful, and editing all the pictures reminds me of warmer, sunnier times.
The shoot I did for Laura and Perry, founders of Beach Bandit Swimming, was one of my favourite shoots of the Summer! These two brilliant people set up their own business, born out of their love for the open water and for swimming, and are on a mission to offer a space where their expertise can be utilised to provide as many people as possible, regardless of age or ability, the chance to enjoy the open water.
I took my camera to the beach on a warm, sunny day after school, back in July, and had the pleasure of documenting what Laura and Perry do best: teaching kids how to swim! They are both amazing with children and know how to combine teaching a very important skill (especially when you live by the sea here in Brighton & Hove) with masses of fun.
For me it was important to capture the distinct personalities of Laura and Perry, as well as the fun teaching environment they create during their lessons. Below are some of my favourite snaps from this shoot. I absolutely love what Laura and Perry are doing, my daughter Ivy has had many lessons with them, and if you have young children I strongly recommend that you check them out so your kids can swim confidently and safely in the sea. Oh, and they offer pool swimming lessons too and are teaching adults to become better swimmers as well - what more can you ask for?!
