First Birthday Photoshoot London | Reportage Family Photography

I feel so lucky that I still have so many lovely clients in London. I love living in Hove, but it is nice sometimes to travel to The Big Smoke to photograph families that you know and look forward to photographing again. Most of these families live in South East London, and at the end of last year, I had the pleasure of going back to East Dulwich to document Joey’s first birthday.

From the moment I walked through the door, the memories of our first photo shoot, when they were a family of three and it was Tom’s first birthday, came back :-) . This was back in 2020, some time in between or at the end of lockdowns, when we were all still wearing masks. I remember Tom’s grandmother not being able to be there, but she was at least able to join us on the phone. Different times.

Fast-forward to December 2023 and here I was documenting Tom’s little brother’s first birthday at their home in East Dulwich. We had a lovely morning - it was dark and rainy outside, but there were empanadas for lunch, a delicious birthday cake and obviously lots of presents for Joey. It’s these type of photo sessions that I love the most.

Stepping into someone's home with a camera isn't just a job - it's a privilege. The families I work with trust me to document their lives authentically, allowing me to capture family milestones, like this first birthday party, and I am so grateful to be able to do this for a living.
