Sussex Family Photographer | Jubilee Street Party Hove

Sussex Family Photographer covering a Jubilee Street Party in Hove. Tug of war competition. Family documentary photography in Brighton and Hove.

Last weekend bunting was hung, flags were flown and champagne corks popped as the Queen's Platinum Jubilee was celebrated all over the country. Our street spent weeks preparing for the “Titian Road Street Party” and I can honestly say it was huge success! As a Sussex Family Photographer I obviously volunteered to document the whole event. Walking around with my camera allowed me to interact with a lot of different people - a great way to get to know my neighbours!

Ivy had a blast too, she dressed up as Princess Anna from ‘Frozen’, made a crown and even won the heads or tales competition (she might have cheated a little bit, but hey, who cares?!). There were home made cakes, there was a raffle and a quiz, we did some singing, but the tug of war was probably the highlight of the party. For a documentary photographer all these events are great material to photograph. I LOVED taking photos of the tug of war, the expressions on the faces of the competitors were just priceless. People got so competitive!

I’ve chosen a few of my favourite photos - a selection of portraits that tells the story of our Jubilee celebrations in pictures. I hope you like them!
