Outdoor family photoshoot | Best outdoor photoshoot locations in Brighton and Hove

Outdoor family photoshoot Hove park. Family lifestyle portrait photographer based in East Sussex. Family sitting in grass. Natural and candid family photography in Brighton, Hove, Worthing, Eastbourne and Lewes.

As we are relatively new to Brighton & Hove, I am still exploring potential family photoshoot locations in and around East Sussex. But I think I’ve narrowed it down to my favourite five locations so far. This top 5 might well change in the future though, as I feel like I have not even seen half of all the awesome places here in Sussex! So here we go, my top five (for now!)…

  1. I love shooting at the Brighton Pier, as there is almost always so much going on. The kids can have an ice cream while they walk along the pier, they can play on the beach and I love taking natural family portraits near the funfair as the fair creates such a beautiful colourful backdrop!

  2. If you’re after some candid and natural family portraits I always love to photograph families in the park - and Preston Park has a lot to offer. The Preston Manor Garden is absolutely gorgeous at this time of year, and the kids love exploring all the different flowers and plants.

  3. Another park favourite is Hove Park. As the park is quite large, it always feels like there aren’t that many people around. So it’s perfect for traditional family portraits with a natural feel to them.

  4. Maybe one of the more surprising locations in this top 5 is the North Laine area in Brighton. Wandering through North Laine, you’ll find a wonderful selection of eclectic and independent shops run by local business owners. It’s such a colourful place that it’s perfect for some quirky and fun family photos for families who love colour! It’s absolutely essential to go early though, as it can get quite busy.

  5. And, to go totally the opposite direction from number 4, I have selected the South Downs as our last outdoor family photoshoot location in Sussex. And what’s not to like about the South Downs? We can watch the sunset together, take portraits during golden hour, or we can just go for a hike with the kids.

Of course this is just a small selection of outdoor family photoshoot locations in and around Brighton. Like I said before, I’m still discovering new locations! The pictures added to this blog are from a lovely family photo session I did for Stacey and her family in Hove Park. I hope you like the images as much as I do. If you would like to book me for your own family photoshoot then I would love to hear from you!
