Family Photographer Hassocks | A Documentary Family Photoshoot In A Treehouse in West Sussex

Documentary family photographer Hassocks, West Sussex: couple and dog on the balcony of their treehouse in Ashurst. Unposed family photography in Sussex. Couple drinking coffee in the morning.

Today on the blog is a shoot that was booked in months in advance, and that I was super excited about. Gloria contacted me back in May to schedule in a documentary photo session for herself, her husband and their dog Wilbur. They were going to be spending a few nights in a gorgeous treehouse in Steyning, West Sussex, and wanted some unposed and natural photos of the three of them. It was such an amazing location to do a family photoshoot!

I just love how diverse my photo sessions can be. In one week I photographed a family and their newborn baby in their house in Hove, then went up to London to do some Autumn mini sessions, and now I was in this beautiful part of West Sussex, to photograph a couple and their dog in an actual treehouse. Lucky me!

The weather was great on the day of the shoot and we spent a lovely sunny morning together. After some proper country driving (not my favourite!) I arrived at this perfect little hideaway amongst the trees. They were just about to light the bbq for breakfast, so perfect timing. When everyone had finished their breakfast we took Wilbur out for a walk. I knew greyhounds are fast dogs, but seeing them in action, and trying to photograph them, makes you really appreciate their incredible speed. I really had to up my shutter speed! :-)

I absolutely loved every minute of this photo session, as soon as I arrived I knew it was going to be a fun and relaxed shoot, and I am so pleased with how the photos turned out. Hope you like them as much as I do!
