Newborn Photographer Brighton & Hove | Is Documentary Newborn Photography For You?
Documentary, reportage style, family and newborn photography is becoming more and more popular each year - but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and that is OK. If you are looking for perfectly posed newborn babies, in a studio, with various props, I am not the right photographer for you. A documentary newborn photo session is about capturing those early days of your baby’s arrival into this world with photographs that are true to you and your family. Those first months will go incredibly fast, but my images will help you remember those first (very overwhelming!) months.
If you would like to have a fun and relaxed time during your photo session then you should definitely consider doing a reportage style newborn photoshoot. Zero posing involved, no awkward smiles, just you and your newborn baby being yourselves. When you embrace the individual nature of each member of your family, you will end up having a beautiful collection of pictures that reflect your own authentic family story.
When you do decide to book in a documentary newborn photoshoot, I think it’s really important to let your guard down during the session. There is absolutely no need to prepare anything beforehand. As a mum myself, I’ve been there. I know those early days can be challenging, you’re not quite sure what you’re doing and you’re exhausted! This is part of being a new parent and it’s OK to show that in pictures. Once they are all grown up, you will see the value in preserving real life moments in photographs. Trust me!
You will be able to relive the moments in the pictures - whether it’s your little one having their first bath, a mini meltdown or having a feed, you’ll be able to see that moment from a new perspective. These photos can bring out true feelings and this is why documentary family photographs are so important!
The newborn documentary experience involves me hanging out with you and your newborn baby for a few hours to capture the wonder of your everyday moments. You embrace your life as new parents, and all the fun chaos that comes with it, and I focus on the honest, unscripted and real moments that naturally unfold. It will be a fun and relaxed experience that will give you a beautiful collection of newborn baby photos that reflect the start of your life with your child.
So what do you think? Is documentary newborn photography for you and your family? If the answer is “yes” then I’d love to hear from you!
